For the first time, the story of Gucci’s silk scarves unfolds in a dedicated volume, ‘Gucci: The Art of Silk,’ produced in collaboration with Assouline. Given exclusive access to the Gucci Archive, the book traces the evolution of the House’s silk scarves—from their earliest designs to their role in shaping Gucci’s House’s visual identity through generations of creative directors.
Curated by Jo-Ann Furniss, the book delves into the inspirations behind Gucci’s silk creations, from Renaissance Florence to cinematic iconography and the House’s deep-rooted artisanal techniques. Alongside historical perspectives, it also highlights contemporary expressions of silk in Gucci’s latest creative projects, including the 90 x 90 initiative.
Housed in an exquisite, printed silk slipcase and cover adorned with the iconic Flora motif—first designed in 1966 by Vittorio Accornero de Testa—the volume offers a visually compelling journey through Gucci’s silk heritage.
