Gucci and A Magazine Curated By celebrate Alessandro Michele’s issue with a trio of exhibitions featuring female artists.
The shows follow the global release of the magazine in November 2016 revealing a portfolio of imagery from a different female photographer in three different cities: Hong Kong, Beijing and Taipei.
The Taipei exhibit’s focus artist is Gia Coppola. On display is the series of images she created for A Magazine Curated by Alessandro Michele. Shot in the arid desert landscape of Joshua Tree in her native California and inspired by Peter Weir’s Picnic at Hanging Rock the photo portfolio unfolds like a surreal narrative – capturing her friends Lily Stewart, Chuckie Grant, Augie Culligan and Laura Love styled by her mother Jacqui Getty. Invited by Coppola, the American actress and activist Rowan Blanchard narrates the images with short poems created as embroidered tapestries and a spoken word soundtrack. Other rooms will show a selection of objects and prints from the pages of A Magazine Curated By Alessandro Michele appearing together for the first time in a cabinet of curiosities chosen by A Magazine Curated By Editor in Chief and exhibition curator Dan Thawley. The exhibit also reveals an immersive projection room, inviting visitors to enter into the pages of the magazine in a psychedelic audio-visual collage that brings Alessandro Michele’s universe to life. #BlindForLove
