Dance artist and choreographer Michael Clark introduced a special performance staged by his company at the Gucci Hub during Milan Fashion Week.
An iconoclast of the dance scene, the Michael Clark company performed a show from his work ‘to a simple, rock ‘n’ roll . . . song.’
Colorful and energetic, the performance started with a reflection on Erik Satie and his influence on Clark’s mentors and colleagues, past and present. Satie’s music has elicited from them some of their most inventive and strikingly original yet emotionally moving works. This piece, the dance meticulous and coolly refined, marked the 150th anniversary of Erik Satie’s birth.
In a tribute to Davide Bowie, another sequence by dancers with otherworldly appearance was accompanied by music from the albums (1973) and ‘Diamond Dogs’ (1974).
Music: Erik Satie, Prelude - Fête donnée par des chevaliers normands en l'honneur d'une jeune demoiselle
