Museo Madre and Gucci present the group exhibition Il resto di niente (The Remains of Nothing) dedicated to the relationship between architectural contexts and the identity and emotional experiences that inhabit them.
Born from an idea of Creative Director Sabato De Sarno, and the museum’s ongoing research in exploring Naples as a Mediterranean metropolis in the process of reinventing its narrative, the exhibition stands as a tribute to the past and present chapters of the city, and the House’s profound connection to the world of art.

Its title references the novel by Enzo Striano (Mondadori), which, through the personal events of the protagonist Eleonora de Fonseca Pimentel, draws a portrait of the social and anthropological transformations that affected Naples during the revolution of 1799. The exhibition ‘Il resto di niente’, curated by Eva Fabbris with Giovanna Manzotti, figuratively takes up the themes addressed in the book, which, between subjectivity and history, explores the possibility of social and anthropological transformations in a period of great change for the Neapolitan city.

The innovative work of architect Aldo Loris Rossi and his collaborator Donatella Mazzoleni are the foundations upon which the exhibition presents new conversations surrounding the relationship between architecture and society, as visual artists of different origins and generations engage with Rossi's visionary projects. Drawing inspiration from his futuristic and utopian ideals, selected contemporary artists creatively bridge Rossi's concepts with new perspectives, underscoring the lasting impact of his designs on today’s world.
The exhibition is open until July 29, 2024.
