Introducing the House’s new Brand Ambassador

Yuzuru Hanyu is an athlete and figure skater with remarkable achievements.

Yuzuru Hanyu made history by winning the gold medal at the men’s singles at two consecutive Olympic Games, Sochi in 2014 and PyeongChang in 2018. In 2020, he completed a grand slam of major international competitions and became the youngest recipient of the People’s Honor Award. Once he turned a professional athlete in July 2022 and continued to pursue his own figure skating, he forged new paths, including organizing ice shows and supporting with the recovery from the Great East Japan Earthquake in his hometown of Sendai. In 2023, he ventured into fashion portraiture at the opening exhibition of the Gucci Ginza Gallery, where he unveiled his dynamic beauty and inner strength.

Of his new role as a Brand Ambassador for Gucci, he stated: “I am truly delighted to become part of the Gucci community, which nurtures bonds with creators from all around the world and beyond the realm of fashion. Throughout its history, the House has devoted itself to craftsmanship and demonstrated exceptional creativity, which fascinates many fans in Japan. I look forward to seeing the allure of Gucci evolve”.

Celebrating 60 years in Japan
This year, Gucci celebrates 60 years in Japan, having been loved by the Japanese people since 1964, when the House’s pieces were first introduced in Japan. Gucci celebrated the arrival of spring by lighting up Tokyo Tower during the cherry blossom season. This year, the fourth, Gucci will celebrate its 60th anniversary with the theme “GRAZIE GUCCI in JAPAN” to thank the people of Japan for their support over the past 60 years. To mark the occasion, the Tokyo Tower will be lit up from sunset to midnight on Friday 22nd and Sunday 31st March.

Brand Ambassador Yuzuru Hanyu spotlights three iconic Gucci elements in the audio stories, available exclusively at Gucci stores.
The audio story changes monthly.

• The first episode is scheduled for Monday, April 8, until May 7; it is the story of Gucci’s traditional GG pattern.
• The second, which is played from May 8 to 31, tells the story of Gucci’s origins, the world of travel.
• The third edition, to be launched on June 1, will tell the story of the innovative and iconic Bamboo Handle bag until June 30.

At Gucci nationwide stores, visitors can scan the dedicated QR code in store to watch an audio story by Mr. Yuzuru on their LINE app. Enjoy the experience with earphones at your nearest Gucci store.
