New Bond Street Art Program

 Exploring lineages of craftsmanship through voluminous, robust forms and thought-provoking textual and visual artworks.

Located at 144-146 New Bond Street, the House’s flagship London boutique was designed in the early 1910s as the venue for one of the world’s oldest and most esteemed art dealers. Honoring that legacy, the second curation of artworks —part of a broader program featured in stores worldwide— features a collection of modern and contemporary artworks curated by long time art partner Truls Blaasmo and implements the vision of Sabato De Sarno, which distills the new atmosphere of Gucci in a counterpoint of artworks, ideas, views, perspectives, and forays into time and space, architecture and city, body and soul.

A discernible chronological trajectory unfolds within selected works belonging to private collections like the Italian Collezione Panza, tracing a journey from the tactile craftsmanship emblematic of the Arte Povera movement in earlier pieces, to a pronounced embrace of Minimalism evident in works approaching the 1990s. A particular emphasis is placed on monumentalism, boldly challenging conventional dimensions, and defying traditional notions of flatness, volume, cardinal orientation, and parallelism.

The exhibition will run until September 2024.
