These mesmerizing scenes were part of the opening performance of ‘The Club’, the Gucci supported exhibition created by Emiliano Maggi.
Showing at Nomas Foundation in Rome, ‘The Club’ explores gender identity, the expression of the self and fashion, through art, musical performances and creative workshops. The Roman artist whose oeuvre focuses on music and fashion inaugurated his show by playing guitars, gongs, distortions and other electronic jam session instruments. The music reminded the visitor how clubbing, punk and baroque aesthetics—intended as underground proposals—are intimately linked and live together with the contemporary. This is the first of performances that the Nomas Foundation, proposes to bring to life ‘The Club’ for its duration from April to September.
The exhibition invites the public to two more special appointments, a fashion design workshop with the students of the Costume and Fashion Academy of Rome on May 2, and a collective sewing performance on fabrics donated by Gucci on June 5. Nomas Foundation, Via Somalia 33, Rome.
