Hari Nef, one of the faces of Gucci Bloom, talks about her struggle of being misunderstood and non-conventional beauty in the third episode of ‘Growing Pains’, a video and podcast series in collaboration with Dazed Beauty, to celebrate the trio of female fragrances.
The model and actress describes her childhood in Newton, Massachusetts: “When I was younger, I wondered what it would look like, what change from the inside could look like.” Later she adds: “I always wanted to be pretty, I definitely was not conventionally pretty by anybody’s standards and then I sort of forced my way into some kind of prettiness proxy.”
Hari also uncovers her fears: “The thought of being misunderstood is really upsetting to me and really brings up a lot of trauma and pain, and quite candidly I feel more often than not that I am misunderstood. Not necessarily by people who know me, but by people who don’t know me—people who only know my avatar, the version of myself that exists on screens.”
