The Art of Silk

The House’s storied legacy of silk craftsmanship continues with a project that pays homage to Gucci’s heritage, reimagining ten archival scarves through a contemporary lens.

Selected by Demna from the Gucci Archive in Florence, their distinctive motifs embody the artistry of the House’s early language of print. This reinterpretation preserves the character of the originals while offering a nuanced reflection of Gucci’s ongoing exploration of silk as a medium, captured in a new set of images.

The project includes two exclusive designs for the LACMA Store, created for the opening of LACMA's new David Geffen Galleries. Featuring the iconic Flora print—first illustrated by Vittorio Accornero in 1966—and its distinctive bouquet of seasonal blooms, these limited-edition scarves are woven from the finest Italian silk, sourced in southern Italy. Through an initiative rooted in local expertise, it supports rural communities, reviving long-standing silk traditions. The reimagined Flora scarves embody a dedication to preserving Italian cultural heritage and to the House’s ongoing relationship with art, available at LACMA and the Gucci Beverly Hills flagship.
