Gucci and A Magazine Curated By celebrate Alessandro Michele’s issue with a trio of exhibitions featuring female artists. Beijing’s edition focused on Coco Capitán.
The shows follow the global release of the magazine in November 2016 revealing a portfolio of imagery from a different female photographer in three different cities: Hong Kong, Beijing and Taipei.
For the Beijing exhibit, the focus artist was Coco Capitán. Fresh from creating work integrated by creative director Alessandro Michele in the Gucci Fall Winter 2017 fashion show, the artist’s iconic handwritings and snapshots of Rome and Florence were displayed in the exhibit in a fine art context. Other rooms showed a selection of objects and prints from the pages of A Magazine Curated By Alessandro Michele appearing together for the first time in a cabinet of curiosities selected by A Magazine Curated By Editor in Chief and exhibition curator Dan Thawley.
The exhibit also revealed an immersive projection room, inviting visitors to enter into the pages of the magazine in a psychedelic audio-visual collage that brought Alessandro Michele’s universe to life.
