A Beauty Tutorial with Makeup Artist Yana

Self-taught makeup artist from Nebraska, Yana from Instagram profile @glammzxyammz  experiments a new look with the Gucci Beauty lipsticks and unveils the inspiration behind her presence on social media.

Tell us about your love for makeup, how and when did it start?
My love for makeup honestly started not too long ago. I actually used to be somewhat of a tomboy in my earlier years. After I got out of high school I started learning more about self-care and was introduced to waxing/plucking my brows. Little by little I started incorporating more and more makeup into my routine. Once I discovered eyeshadow I was hooked! Haven’t looked back since.

How did your passion evolve to your social media and what is the message behind it.
Once I actually started taking makeup seriously to the point where it was like I wanted to do my makeup everyday, I knew it was something that I wanted to explore! I started actually finding looks on the internet to practice and recreate. Trying new techniques I had seen on youtube. My family noticed how good I actually was and encouraged me to post them on my social media! I was hesitant at first because I’m my worst critic; but I finally gave in and started posting makeup weekly on my Facebook. I didn’t realize until later how much of an impact that would make on me and my social presence. I really just wanted to create looks that were personal to me and show off the different sides of me!

Your beauty looks are always very powerful and rich in color, what inspires you to create them?
I’ve always been a really creative person, so my inspiration comes from a number of places! I’m mostly inspired by nostalgia, colorful memories and most importantly other artists! I love to bring a wow factor to my work that hasn’t been seen before. I try to explore as many colors and techniques as I can to take my looks to the next level. I think that’s what makes my looks stand out; because I’m not limited to just one style!
