Dancer and choreographer Holly Blakey recounts her adolescence in the second episode of ‘Growing Pains’. Created in collaboration with Dazed Beauty to celebrate the Gucci Bloom fragrances, the video and podcast series focuses on three women passing from youth to adulthood.
From passing too much time staring at her body in the mirror to growing stronger and finding beauty in freedom of judgement, in the second episode, Holly Blakely remembers the emotional difficulties of her life as a young dancer. “There was a patch of time in my adolescence when I took a break and I didn’t dance anymore,” says Holly, “and it was when I returned and I was strong again that I got into doing contemporary dance.”
Holly explains her career path to becoming a choreographer wasn’t always easy, and has since collaborated with international artists including Florence + The Machine and Coldplay. “The thing about actually dancing is that it alleviates any feeling of anything else, it makes you entirely present”.
