An ode to tradition and creativity, Gucci celebrates its centenary year a multiple-acts exhibition held in Kyoto, Japan’s sister city to Florence where the House was founded.
"Gucci in Kyoto" is an exhibition project that embodies Alessandro Michele's vision and aesthetic through his latest Aria collection. The first chapter of the project is set in the Kiyomizudera Temple—part of the UNESCO World Heritage site known as the Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto—where an exclusive installation of the Gucci Aria collection is showcased in several halls of the temple.
For one night only, this exclusive installation was accompanied by a dedicated dance offering a prayer for rebirth. The second chapter is ‘Gucci Bamboo House’ featuring archival and new Gucci products defined by the bamboo element including the Gucci Diana bag.
The interactive exhibition is open to the public from July 22 until August 15, in The Kawasaki Residence—a venue built in the 1920s, the decade in which Gucci was established. The third chapter presented Gucci's High Jewelry collection, Hortus Deliciarum—meaning 'Garden of Delights' in Latin—and a new range of fine watches in Ninna-ji, a location with a history dating back to the 9th century.
