Situated behind the magnificent Pitti Palace, Boboli Gardens doubles as an open-air museum with an extensive collection of architecture, artwork and a Medici-designed layout that inspired many a court in Europe.
Originally designed in the mid-16th century by Niccolò Pericoli, known as Tribolo, the current layout of Boboli Gardens, grand, geometrical and symmetrical in nature, was devised by the Medici family and stands as one of the most important exemplars of the Italian-style garden. The UNESCO World Heritage Site is dotted with masterpieces of art and architecture set against a meticulously landscaped backdrop.

The main entrance overlooks a horseshoe amphitheater – once the quarry from which the palace materials were excavated – with an original obelisk from Luxor, Egypt at its center. The Buontalenti Grotto, designed by Bernardo Buontalenti in the late 16th century, is decorated with stalactites, shells and terracotta reliefs while the Knight’s Building in its current rendition features a neoclassical façade, making for a distinctive and intriguing contrast.

The Rococo-style Kaffeehaus (coffee house), once a rest stop for members of the Habsburg-Lorraine court, is perched atop a hill, offering a panoramic view of Florence.

Boboli Gardens and Gucci
Gucci is proud to participate in “Primavera di Boboli” (Spring in the Boboli Gardens), a multi-year cultural project whose aim is to restore and improve the Gardens. In May 2017, Gucci held its Cruise 2018 fashion show at the Palatina Gallery in Pitti Palace as part of a unique journey through the marvels of Renaissance Florence.
