THELMA SCHOONMAKER WINS SECOND ANNUAL GUCCI AWARD FOR WOMEN IN CINEMA AT 69TH VENICE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
VENICE August 31, 2012 – Thelma Schoonmaker won the second annual Gucci Award for Women in Cinema during a ceremony and private dinner hosted by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini at the 69th Venice International Film Festival.
Giannini is joined on the jury by actress Zoë Saldana; director and screenwriter Paolo Sorrentino; Mary Schmidt Campbell, dean of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts; and film journalist, curator and the Venice International Film Festival’s US Programmer Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan.
Frida Giannini wore a Gucci Fall Winter 2012-2013 black silk double georgette plunging v-neck long sleeved gown all over embroidered with a black on black degrade leopard print.
Gucci Award 2012: the Jury
Gucci is proud to have joined forces with one of the world’s most prestigious film festivals to spotlight and acclaim the unique contributions women make to the film industry in a wide range of capacities. In honor of this occasion, Gucci will again make a grant of US$25,000 to the Maurice Kanbar Institute of Film and Television at NYU Tisch School of the Arts in the name of the Award recipient.
