For the first time ever Gucci has taken over an entire building for its
flagship store in Tokyo’s
most exclusive shopping district. The glass tower, eight stories high, is a
beacon for fashionistas across the city.
Designed without compromise by Frida Giannini, with a multi dimensional
glass façade by James Carpenter, the store gleams with natural light, warmed by
rich, natural materials. At night it radiates with a light installation by
Shozo Toyohisa.

Gucci Flagship building
A stunning staircase of ribbed glass links the different floors, while
rosewood and glass are used in the luxurious elevator, which features an
inviting mohair bench. In keeping with Tokyo’s
love affair with technology, there’s a video directory and interactive screens.
This contrasts gorgeously with classic Gucci elements, such as the Guccisima
leather change trays and the way handbags are presented with a flourish on
hand-made leather roll out pads.
