THELMA SCHOONMAKER WINS SECOND ANNUAL GUCCI AWARD FOR WOMEN IN CINEMA AT 69TH VENICE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL
 
VENICE August 31, 2012 – Thelma Schoonmaker won the second annual Gucci Award for Women in Cinema during a ceremony and private dinner hosted by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini at the 69th Venice International Film Festival. Salma Hayek-Pinault presented Schoonmaker with the Award in recognition of her work as the editor for HUGO.

Thelma Schoonmaker wore a Gucci Pre Fall 2012-13 black and red floral printed chiffon blouse with black satin georgette long skirt, black patent leather high heeled pumps and black satin embroidered clutch.

A jury led by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini selected Schoonmaker from this group of distinguished women. Giannini’s fellow jurors included: actress Zoë Saldana; director and screenwriter Paolo Sorrentino; Mary Schmidt Campbell, dean of New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts; and film journalist, curator and the Venice International Film Festival’s US Programmer Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan.
