Fashion takes time. It takes almost two days for one of Gucci’s master
artisans to painstakingly assemble one of the house’s exquisite Stirrup
handbags, and a New Bamboo bag can take over thirteen hours of highly
skilled craftsmanship to put together its 140 pattern pieces. Looking at
the artistry that goes into crafting an iconic Jackie, it becomes clear
that making fashion history is not for the faint of heart.
Now, with the launch of “Icons of Heritage – Cut & Craft”,
Gucci’s new global social media campaign, Gucci fans will be able to
bring the brand’s history and heritage into their homes. Starting
September 6th, the campaign will be hosted on a dedicated tab on Gucci’s
Facebook page, as well as localized tabs on the brand’s Korean and
Japanese pages.

Fans will view short 3-D films introducing the three bags along with an
image gallery of the current collection, They’ll then be invited to
download patterns for papercraft copies of the three bags, illustrate
and assemble them, following the lead of beautifully minimal
instructional videos, and finally upload photos of their DIY
masterpieces to a gallery where they can browse others’ designs and vote
for their favorites.
