In light of the three-year partnership between Gucci and The Recording Academy® – and the successful launch of the Gucci GRAMMY® timepiece and jewelry collection – the two partners have teamed up to help preserve one of the most important musical finds in recent years.
The first year of the partnership was named the Year of Jazz with the works and performances of legendary jazz performer and musician Thomas ‘Fats’ Waller (1904 – 1943) to be digitally re-mastered and preserved. Waller was a GRAMMY® Hall of Fame Award Winner, playing the piano and organ as well as being an accomplished singer, songwriter, music producer and comedic entertainer. His music and performance style influenced the likes of Count Basie and Louis Armstrong and many of his songs, like “Honeysuckle Rose”, “Ain’t Misbehavin”’ and “Squeeze Me”, have become jazz classics.
